Gold Tin Plate

I have always had this Gold Tin Plate.
I never knew where it came from, but I have always had it buried away in an old box in the basement. I didn't know if it was worth anything or not, but I thought I would keep it in case one of those antique road shows would come to town.

After finding one of my second cousins, Erin Coddington, she sent me an amazing picture of our great great grandparents, Lewis Henry Crandell and Marica Minerva Pennoyer.

Lewis hand made the book shelf behind him in the back right corner. Berdena wrote in her memoirs that her mother would often stay up late with Lewis and hold up an old fashion oil lantern so Lewis could hand carve L.H.C. into each of the 6 panels of glass.
As I looked around the picture and examined every little detail I noticed something familiar up on the fireplace. I would guess this picture was around 1900 based on other family events happening around this time. That would make the gold tin plate over a hundred years old.
